I gave up on Destiny the second I learned what was in their first DLC. Nothing but a squandered IP that was full of potential. The DLC was their chance to keep me playing but it seems Bungie's answer to the biggest complaint with the game, that being that there's not enough to do, is to give us the same old shit in the same old places. If that's the way they're heading with the business strategy then I don't think I want to be a part of their 10 year disappointment... I mean adventure. So I'm back to the old favourite, GTAV. Also started L.A. Noire again because that's good fun every now and then. I played The Evil Within for about an hour at my friend's house and it just cemented the idea that I really don't like scary games, not because they're scary, but because they're boring, predictable, ugly, and just not fun.
I never actually finished GTA V single player, infact I only just got Trevor but I have decided to wait for the PS4 version before bothering to go back to it. Spent so much time online that I didn't have time to play single player.
Just bought AC: Unity and started playing. Prologue: Rooftops: Some street views, I stop every often and want to take a picture: Church (where you synchronize) - 1:1 scale, it's huge There is a lot of criticism towards the game and I don't think it deserves all the punches. However, I will report again few hours later into the game.
Watch Dogs I'm not actually playing it much because the POS keeps crashing. Wish I 'd know it had issue before I got it. It crashed 4 times in the last hour and that makes it pretty much unplayable. The graphics settings are pretty funny. I'm playing with "Ultra" textures and the environment still looks a little like this.
AC Unity does look very good at times. It's one of the first games on PS4 and Xbox One that I'd say actually looks next gen. A year after the console were released.
Also with major framerate problems, even on the PS4. http://www.polygon.com/2014/11/11/7193289/assassins-creed-unity-frame-rate-problems-bugs-ps4-xbox-one-pc As far as Shadow of Mordor, no it really doesn't get boring. The game starts out brutally tough. And getting to the point where you can actually take out the captains and warchiefs feels really satisfying. They really nailed the feeling of getting your ass kicked and then building up to get revenge. And unlike Assassin's Creed, it's mostly done through gameplay rather than heavy-handed storytelling that won't get out of the way and just let you play.
There was a day one patch for Unity on PS4 which was supposed to help, also Firmware 2.02 supposedly helps. I won't be playing the game until after Christmas at least so hopefully be fixed by then. Still haven't finished black flag, been playing it slowly over the course of the last year.
I've got Far Cry 4 this month and next gen GTAV next month. I'm in no rush to buy Unity, but I'll get it at some point.
Same here. It actually seemed like a good game but I had to put it down for some reason and I never picked it up again. Now Dragon Age comes out in 5 days with 85 hours of content followed by the Witcher 3 a few months later with 100 hours of content. It may be another year before I get to it.
Dragon Age in 5 days? That snuck up on me. If the reviews are decent, I'll probably pick it up. Thanksgiving weekend is always good for hours and hours of RPG wandering.
Have no fear. The reviews are very good. Game Spot - 9/10 IGN - 88/100. Joystiq -- 5/5 Game Informer -- 9.5/10 Polygon -- 9.5/10 GamesRadar -- 4/5 I've been looking for the best deal on PC. So far it's $52 at GMG. I'll wait another day or two to see what else pops up.
I played Dragon Age Origins and although I could see the appeal it ended up just being really boring for me after about 7 hours of play. I did like the way the characters would chat away still soaked in the blood of their enemies, a nice touch. I never played the second one and from what I heard that was a good thing. So I don't have any investment in the Dragon Age series but this game looks like it could be pretty sweet, and it definitely looks next gen, unless Bioware are pulling a Ubisoft on us. Will I be fine playing this game without having played much of the first 2?
I am going to get Dragon Age in January as it happens to be my birthday and I have instructed my wife she may buy that for me as a gift.
From Kotaku I've played 1 and 2 and I don't know the difference between Tevinter Magister and a Orlesian noble. I might try to brush up on my lore again.
Preordered standard edition on Amazon…the Flames of the Inquisition armor stuff for Deluxe was a bit tempting, but figured that it would be more fun to just build up from scratch.
I have to agree. Unless a person is collecting armor it's more fun to build your own. I always play a mage anyway so massive amounts of plate mail aren't the greatest accessory. The staff looks cool but still not worth it. The mounts and throne are not impressing me.
It sounds like people are pretty pissed about AC Unity being such a mess. Consoles run it badly. Even high end video cards like the GTX 780 run it badly. It seems like you need a GTX 980 just to get acceptable framerates, which stinks of shitty optimization. Something is very wrong when it takes a $550 video card to run your game the way it was intended. If consoles and mid-range video cards can't run a game well, the developer has failed completely. People are calling Ubisoft the new EA. Watch Dogs by all accounts was a mess too from a technical standpoint. Seems like they need to stop being so greedy and slow down with the yearly Madden/Call of Duty shovelware style releases and actually take the time to polish the games they release. http://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2014/11/12/congratulations-ubisoft-youre-the-new-ea/
