Wolfenstein: The New Order I'm about 3 hours in and so far it's alright. It has an interesting story but there doesn't seem to be anything make it stand out from any other generic shooter.
Can't stop playing Destiny. Got back into it about a month ago and have two pretty decent characters going.
I'm still grinding away at Destiny. Doing quite well all things considered. Over the weekend I felt the urge to play Skyrim again. I haven't touched it really since 2013 as I'd not wanted to play it. So I made 2 new characters and I've been playing that. But it looks so bad now. So very bad.
I took a break from it and then went back to play some of the DLC. I just couldn't get into it again.
The engine is from 2006. There's only so much you can do to polish something so old. Also, I think everyone playing and talking about Skyrim back in 2011/2012 was a lightning in a bottle type phenomenon, where playing it now you just aren't going to recapture that magic.
I never actually completed that in the end as I buggered up my save by not carrying enough health potions to that frying place and could not get back down or rewind to an earlier save. Don't know if I can be bothered to start it again in the future..
Yeah, I guess you could say that about a lot of games though. I said this a year or two ago but I'd love it if I could unlearn everything I know about Skyrim and start fresh again. When I play it now I find myself knowing exactly which quests I'm going to do in order to aquire the gear I want before I actually start adventuring, and it feels a bit like work. The other day I was like "Ok, I need to get to the Kyne'sgrove part of the main questline so the dragons start spawning in the wild, then I need to buy a house to store my alchemical ingredients, so I need money, better go farm that iron ore cave not too far from Whiterun and transmute the ore into gold ore, then I want a crossbow for my orc to replace his regular bow, this means starting the dawnguard. But then I'll want the better crossbow with explosive bolts so that means doing most of the dawnguard" etc etc.
Buh? Anyway, I bought Final Fantasy VI for my iPhone the other day, I had to get a new game as I've played nothing but Injustice on my phone for the last few months and I'm starting to tire of that grind. I played FFVI on an emulator back in 2009 but never really got on with it. I think I just don't much care for 2D RPGs. I had the same issue with Crono Trigger, people said it was amazing but I really couldn't play past the 3 or 4 hour mark, it bored me. Anyway I would have just gotten gba4ios again and downloaded some pokemon games like I did last year but apparently gba4ios can't work with iOS8 and never will. So I bought what I keep hearing is arguably the best FF game in the series... according to fans of the series 6 and 7 are meant to be the best, neither of which I've finished. I'm all over the place right now with games. I've got FFVI going on with my phone. Console-wise I'm trying to find time to play Destiny, and Skyrim, and I just redownloaded a bunch of PS1 games I forgot I downloaded to my PS3 before the HDD went kaput a couple of years back. So I started Rayman again because although I've always liked that game I never finished it back in the day. Final Fantasy VIII is one of my favourites and I'm playing that at the moment as well. Final Fantasy VII is on my PS3, I want to get to that at some point as I never got off disc 1 all those years ago. I also have Residen Evils 1, 2, and 3 sitting on my PS3's HDD. I'm looking forward to 2 and 3. Come to think of it I never finished Resi 1 back in the day either. Wow this is going to be the year of gaming closure for me.
I am breaking my normal rules and playing 2 games at once. Grim Fandango: Finished year 1 already, despite not playing it since the 90s I remembered nearly all of the puzzles in year 1. The only bit I forgot was the wheelbarrow puzzle, forgot to go to it but I found it and got out of the forest pretty easily. Resident Evil HD: Feels very much like the Gamecube version, not sure if I like the modern controls, maybe felt better with tank controls* *Didn't notice until after I started playing that there is a trophy for Grim Fandango (A gold one at that) for completing the game from start to finish with Tank Controls but can't be bothered to start again now. Also I have loads of trophies already, just exhaust dialogue with everything to get them.
Wait. Your just going to let that trophy go? Not even going to try? That trophy will haunt you until the end of your days.
Having to start again and do year one again would be annoying as there is quite a bit of talking in the game with it being an adventure game. Gold trophies have more value than bronze of silver too but it seems a chore.
I meant that flying place when you ride that dragon to that floating island. Also, it was on my old PS3 so that save data is gone anyway.
I've restarted grim fandango with original graphics and tank controls for that trophy and to mop up the ones I've missed. I'm glad task controls went away
I don't play much these days, I bought far cry 4 but it didn't suck me. However, I still play Rayman Legends and today I finally got the last teensie. I thought I will never get it, it's from the Station Infiltration invaded. Extremely difficult, there is so little room for mistakes. I often did it within 41 seconds, 40.5 was my best for months! Today I did it in 39.78. I won't get platinum however, as there is a trophy for beating your friends 30 times. Sadly, no one from my friend list plays it anymore on ps4.
Lords Of The Fallen. Went into this expecting a straight souls clone and was pleasantly surprised. Gameplay is both similar and dissimilar if that makes sense. Button layouts and healing items work the same as Dark Souls but unlike Souls you don't have an effective roll, you rely far more on your shield or taking damage. The one downside is the poor subtitles, they are all over the place. The voices make sense but the odd bit of gibberish ends up in the subs. The first 2 bosses were easy but the third gave me a challenge, just got to a much harder area and got a trophy saying 'Lords starts here' so assuming it is going to get harder from here on and what came before was a breeze. Took a while to get into it but enjoying it now.
Lucky boy. I don't have time to play it now I am addicted to Final fantasy 14 and I am still burnt out from Unite and 3 Ultimate. Tell me how the new monsters and areas etc are once you have tried them.
