Homeworld 2 Remastered The story is weaker than Homeworld 1, but I feel like the gameplay is more streamlined and better overall.
I picked up Bloodborne, but I haven't gotten too far into it yet. I think the Demon's/ Dark Souls players who were dual wielding katanas in PvP will have a much easier time adjusting than the play style than the guys who tanked with the gigantic shields. The counterattack to minimize health loss mechanic is really clever and pushes you to stay aggressive. The design is clearly superior to Dark Souls 2, so they are back on track with the original Souls director. I can't think of any major negatives other than lengthy load times after you die, and you're going to die often. Everything else seems superb.
If I could give you one piece of advice it would be to learn this games version of the parry and riposte system. It is truly invaluable for bosses and although you will miss a few times or need to farm bullets if you mess it up and die it can really make a difference. The bosses are so fast and aggressive that finding an opening without getting your head kicked in is really hard and I have only beaten the first 2! The damage being 5-6 times stronger than a normal attack also helps! I was really good at using rolls in Demon's and Dark Souls, you got a feeling for when you would have the i-frames and could use it to avoid a lot of damage. Although you still get i-frames in this I am finding the timing really hard, some of the bosses attack so hard and fast that I really struggle to get out of the way. Father Gascoigne is a real spaz, you really don't know what he is going to do from one minute to the next. I think this game may be even more cryptic than the others, it doesn't even tell you how to start leveling up! Not that I am finding it makes much of a difference!!! Modifying weapons is also a mystery and you need certain things to do certain things but again the game makes no reference to them at all but this can make a huge difference.
I am after the Gascoigne and slowly explore the area further below. The design is superb, I love every bit of it. Levels have even more passages and shortcuts and this is something I really missed in DkS2. I bet level designers from the original DkS were hired here and DkS2 levels were designed by a less experienced team. I really don't miss shields, however I've found one yesterday and will definitely check it out. When you beat Gascoigne and go back to central Yarnham, the guy that coughs gives you a flamethrower that does a lot of damage but still, the parry you do with the gun is something new and fun to me.
Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White witch - Studio Ghibli teams up with Studio 5 for an epic anime Ghibi Like story. What's not to like. Loving it so far.
It's a very nice game. A few stupid difficulty spikes are a pity but not too much of a problem. The biggest shame is how much of a grind it is in post-game. Real missed opportunity.
Most RPG's are a big grind post-game tbh so it should not bother me unless it's one of those constantly super long grind types. Platinum trophy seems easy enough to get from what I saw, although that Alchemy one might be a bugger. Difficulty is fine since I find most games far too easy this day but battles in this game are a bit easy for me at the moment and that is not from extra grinding either.
Counter-Strike Global Offensive They made it super casual and noob friendly. It feels like a cross between CS and CoD. I don't really like it as much as CSS, but it's what everyone is playing now.
Dark Souls II: Scholar of the First Sin. What a difference 60FPS makes, the game is so fluid compared to the old version. Only issue is they tied durability to frame rate so weapons wear out twice as fast and although it is a bug they look to be denying it. Not got too far, still in the forest. Learning the new enemy locations as I go.
I've read the reddit thread on the bug and I can't believe this. Not the bug, the denial. It sounds like they pretend it has just been designed so and it have been the past gen versions that had the bug of NOT consuming the durability properly. I really wished they remade the DkS1 rather than 2.
I find that I can only kill 20-30 enemies tops before it starts to look really worn out and I have to run back to bonfire. Its a pain as you have to keep swapping or just kill everything close and use the bonfire over and over until they are gone permanently.
Really? Last I played, CS:S still had more players. CS:GO sucked.. I couldn't even tell the character models apart half the time.
I played it when it first came out and it wasn't very popular. I thought it looked too washed out and like you had a hard time identifying the models. Of course that was a long time ago. I loaded Source a few months ago and all my favorite servers were dead so I guess people moved on.
It surprised me as well. When I looked at the number of people playing the other night, I saw that CSGO had around 200k players, while Source had only around 2k. It seems like Source is pretty much dead and people have moved on to GO even though it's not as good.
someone needs to infiltrate valve to give us updates on what they're doing. I don't care about steambox! I need new valve software!
Pikmin 3 I'm just playing the demo version. It's pretty good and makes good use of the Wii U tablet. I probably wont be buying it right now but maybe someday I will.
Resident Evil 6: Picked this up in a Resident Evil sale on PSN. What the hell happened to this series since RE4. At least RE5 was slightly enjoyable but so far this game is silly and feels like a COD shooter than a survival horror. Was glad to find Zombies were finally back but they are lame. They can dodge, wield and use weapons and can also dive through the air towards you like a clothesline. Will be playing it for the story since I am a big Resi fan.
Along with RE6 I am playing Resident Evil Revelations: Such a breath of fresh air after RE5 and RE6 as the tense and sometimes scary atmosphere, lack of ammunition and being made to find keys and things to unlock doors around a giant ship ect makes it feel like the original Resident Evil's. Liking it a lot so far.
Call of Juarez: Gunslinger I don't mind linear shooters if they're done right but this one is just darn annoying. If you go in a direction the game doesn't like it teleports you back to the beginning of the level so your pretty much stuck going in a strait line. Also the water seems to kill you. Rather than prevent you from going into the water or letting you swim you just die. Lame. I'm done with it.
Sid Meier's Civilization: Beyond Earth I need to watch some kind of beginners guide. I have no idea what I'm doing.
