What Games Are You Playing?

  1. I've been playing the Crysis 2 multiplayer demo for PC. It looks really sharp and runs pretty well (maybe high 50s fps for Advanced and mid to high 30s for Hardcore @1080p for the GTX 460 1 GB...just an estimate from memory glancing at FRAPS, not a benchmark). It did tend to vary a bit when I went outdoors and indoors as you might expect. Overall, the graphics look really nice on the higher two settings, although it still seemed to have a bit of a hazy white look to it. Hopefully the higher DX settings fix some of the weirdness with the lighting. I'm quite eager to play the campaign component, but the multiplayer seems decent enough.

  2. Crysis was waaay better regarding graphics. Crysis 2 doesnt even have the destruction you had in Crysis, like cutting trees etc

  3. I've tried the demo, it seems to run fairly well on Hardcore settings @ 1280 x 800, I tried 1680 x 1080 but it seemed to hover around the high 20's to mid 30's.

Also I see what you mean about the stupid amount of bloom contrast, it almost seems like it's hurting your eyes.

  4. Currently playing:
    Final Fantasy XIV
    MineCraft
    Bulletstorm (funny is hell!)
    Fable3
    Demon Souls

  5. Hopefully that can be adjusted somewhat in the final version. I don't know why they would choose that peculiar look. It is detrimental to the visual quality.

  6. I've been bouncing around the Bulletstorm demo, Undead Redemption and been drifting back into regular black ops. I haven't touched GT for over a week now as I'm sick of doing the same Dream Car Championship over and over again. I'm still waiting for the new seasonals.

  7. Actually, I've been playing the Crysis 2 demo on hardcore @ 1680 x 1050 and it seems to be running in the mid to high 30's. I think it was the oversaturation of the HDR mixing with the motion blur to make it look like the game was running a bit slow when in reality the frame-rate was fine. Seems very well optimised even in this fairly old build.

  8. I've started Playing Dragon Age Origins, I brought it ages ago but forgot I had it seems like a pretty decent game thus far, although it is a bit freeze-y and laggy in places.

  9. I'm back to playing Dead Space 2 now that my PC is working again.

  10. I am playing Pokemon White, but I am having save issues. So until that I cannot start properly. The game is running fine on no$gba so that is good.

  11. I'm still playing a lot of Just Cause 2 on PC. It's a lot of fun and is a huge game.

  12. Played Demon's Souls for two hours or so and just as I've expected - it's a great game. I don't know which particular element makes it so great, maybe it's just the right balance of all elements.

The setting is detailed, the combat system is challenging but fair enough to feel that it's not just stupid button mashing but rather all depends on you, your skill and good timing. What I also like is the feeling when you advance through the castle but every few moments you get outside and can see the starting point from a different perspective.

I've been killed two or three times but was able to easily go back and pick up my souls. I've reached the bridge with the fire dragon but went back. Today I am gonna advance further.

  13. You done the first boss yet?

  14. yep.

I got the material form back but lost it in a moment after dying in 1-2. What's the purpose of being in material form, other than having longer HP strip?

Also, how do I learn spells? I've upgraded my soldier to have one spell slot, found Wooden Staff in 1-2 but apparently have no spells learned yet.

And the last question - how do I SELL stuff? The merchant in Nexus can stock my stuff but I'd rather like to sell it. I don't see any point in stocking 5 Slave Shields or other garbage.

  15. I cannot remember about the material form, but I think you cannot fight or enter someone's game to fight them. It is also because you have died and need to get your body and souls back.

You learn spells from someone in the Nexus, there are a few different people, but first you have to find the missing person. They are dotted around in a few different places hiding.

Lastly, you cannot sell anything sadly, but you can store things away if you don't need them. This also helps as if you carry over a certain weight you guy will move slow which is bad.

  16. Physical form gives you a bit of extra health and allows you to be a host. You can invite in up to two blue phantoms to help you while in physical form. On the other hand, to balance the advantage of inviting helpers, your game can also be invaded when you're in physical form.

You can buy the weaker spells with souls in the Nexus. You can learn the more powerful spells by trading the souls of bosses, the "demons' souls" so to speak.

Selling? Not in this hardcore game! You can trade stuff with other players online by dropping it (very risky unless you know them, and even then, keep a watchful eye on someone like monsly for obvious reasons...), but you can't sell anything.

  17. I'm mostly playing Killzone 3 online and a bit of Just Cause 2 and Stranger's Wrath on PC, which looks good now that it has been updated.

  18. Pokemon Emerald, at work. Nice.

  19. You need to upgrade to Black or White. ;)

  20. Got Uncharted: Drake's Fortune the other day for £8, Gotta admit I enjoyed it quite a lot I might have to pick up the second one and the third one when it comes out :D
