What Games Are You Playing?

Discussion in 'Gaming' started by Phisix, Jan 24, 2011.

  1. Slowly playing Borderlands 2 for PC. This game is awesome.

  2. play some modern games phisix! ;)

  3. I'm catching up on some games I missed out of. :p Still got the Witcher 3 for that haha.

  4. It's not really similar at all. There were very few human enemies in the old ones. In the reboot they turned her into a murder machine. The old game was really tricky with it's puzzles, at least they were tricky to my child brain. The old game was "Find your way through here." while the new one is simply "Make your way through here."

Also the sub boss near the end fucking terrified me as a kid.

  5. That's kind of what I figured. It seems more similar to Uncharted than it does to the older TR games.

  6. I'm about to hit 100hrs in Rainbow Six Siege so this game can be officially posted by me in here now. It has been a very long time since I've put real time into a game so this is like a milestone for me.

I'm sure this will be followed up soon as The Division launches next month.

  7. Are you ready for it?

  8. Yea, I was in the closed beta. I was able to pull through fine at 1440p but had most settings set to low.

But... with our pascal talks, I figured I'd just pull the trigger on a 980ti. Nvidia started The Division promo a few days ago for free copies with 970, 980, and 980ti's. newegg had an EVGA 980ti for $599.99

  9. Tough decision. There is still nothing solid about the Nvidia release dates yet. Some rumors say April but there is nothing to back that up and it looks a lot more like Q3 or Q4. My 780 is getting long in the tooth as well.

nVidia has so little competition from AMD that I don't think they're in a rush to release anything new. They pretty much have a monopoly on the GPU market the same way intel has a monopoly on the CPU market. Just look at intel. They have so little competition from AMD that they've stopped even caring about making faster processors and are now focusing on power consumption and battery life. I have zero regrets about buying a GTX 980 at launch. The last time a card stayed high-end this long was probably the 8800GTX.

  11. Well I had already pulled the trigger yesterday. EVGA has that trade up program to fall back on if pascal shows its face sometime soon but it's only a 90 day window. No biggy in my case though. 980ti performance jump for me on a 770 is about 80% increase.

  12. I was going to mention that trade-up program. We still have no idea about the next gen cards performance. Both companies might come out with something slower than 980 Ti first so the 980Ti still might be king of the hill for a while. It sounds like's like Nvidia's GP100s are close to ready but those might go to super computing contracts before we see them as a new Titan. And even if we did it'd be a $1000 card.

    The Division Beta

Wow this is bad. I'm playing on ultra and it looks like an early Xbox 360 game.

The enemies are literally black friday shoppers and street niggas who throw rocks. But you need the world's best tactical gear to kill them.

The story involves Black Friday Fever striking the nation. Walmart put an offbrand tv on sale for $30. Order collapsed. Now only a guy in a hoodie with a napsack can restore order.

fucking lol at this being so hyped. It's Watchdogs all over again.

  14. I was watching The Division on Twitch today. It didn't look all that terrific. Also watched some Far Cry Primal. That looked pretty good but the leaked reviews say it isn't.

  15. the division is weird since it's using a realistic type of scenario. so it feels weird shooting people and they don't die after a few shots. but in the end, you have to remember it's an rpg style game where characters have hit points and there's an xp and leveling system (as well as weapon levels) along with loot system. so in other words, it's basically a borderlands/destiny style game, but without the sci-fi wonkiness.

I play with friends and we all loved and put tons of hours into borderlands so the division is fun for us. the beta doesn't have have the crafting system available so i'm curious about that.

also the dark zone pvp is where the fun is at right now.

  16. I'm juggling a few games. Just finished Dreamfall Chapters: Chapter 4. I'm a little ways into Grim Fandango and The Book of Unwritten Tales. I've been trying to finish Undertale but I'm not that into it. And finally I got the DLC for the Witcher 3 so I'm firing that up again. It was good to take a break from it.

This is Undertale. It's got a 92 on Metacritic and a 97% positive on Steam.

    Fallout: New Vegas

Really disappointing after playing Fallout 4 and Skyrim. It feels like a low budget bargain bin game, or maybe a mod made by fans. The world feels empty and lifeless. The graphics are huge downgrade from FO3, or even Oblivion for that matter. The voice acting sounds like they got some hobos off the street and paid them in ham sandwiches to read some lines. The dip in quality going from Bethesda to Obsidian is very noticeable. Maybe if I had played this back in 2010, and I had been really desperate for more Fallout, I could have gotten into it. But after Skyrim and FO4, it just feels like a huge step back. And even if I had played it back in the day, I doubt it would have compared all that favorably to FO3.

  18. New Vegas looked like crap when it came out but the story was better than fo3. Neither was that great though.

Yeah, I would imagine it looked bad even in 2010, and time has not been kind to it.

I think FO4 is the best of the modern Fallout games. It gets so much hate because it's popular, but it really is better than the other two.

  20. Finished up replaying Zelda Twilight Princess on my laptop(all zelda'd out after playing Skyward sword before as well)

Now I'm starting an RPG I missed out on years ago; Xenoblade. So far so good.
