Nier: Automata has the best musical score I've heard in years. It reminds me of the way I felt playing Chrono Trigger and hearing stellar track after stellar track and noticing that aspect of the game stand out so far above other games.
Ryse: Son of Rome Not digging it too much so I'm glad it's a short game. The combat is repetitive and after a few hours in I'm having some serious performance issues. Frames randomly drop from 60 to 10 causing stuttering.
In early 2012, I bought Skyrim during a Steam sale and never installed or played it. Five years later, I'm finally playing it. So far, I feel like Oblivion was better, but I'm only 30 hours into the game, and most of it has been Thieves Guild quests, buying houses and aimless exploring.
I did the thieves guild missions for the first time on my second playthrough. They were the best mission in the game so it made my second playthrough more fun than I expected.
The Dark Brotherhood quests are the best part of Skyrim. Spoilers (not really since the game is 6 years old) - The mission where you assassinate the emperor is so epic.
Nier: Automata. Struggling to get into this after playing Horizon. Feels a bit rigid and the "open world" traversal is getting tedious, especially with the poor map and "find the thing" subquests. @hawk4x4 only 30hrs in? I hear that game gets good around 60.
A fast travel system opens up after a few missions that lets you go anywhere you want. The open world is similar to Dark Souls' interconnected areas with shortcuts you can unlock. The map typically marks objectives with a red dot or red zone. When things are difficult to find, it's typically because of verticality, such as being hidden in a subterranean cavern. I'm puzzled by the "rigid" descriptor. I've played it approximately 80 hours, and I haven't encountered much rigidity.
You guys who haven't picked up Andromeda are missing out on amazing experiences like this (my upload, BTW). Just exudes quality.
The Andromeda apologists are unreal. I had people tell me I needed to clear my web browser history, blame it on Frostbite, claim people like me who have video evidence of bugs are intentionally using old drivers or doing something untoward to make it look much worse than it is, ect. The mental gymnastics are all over the place.
Total War: Warhammer I thought this was going to be more like a StarCraft RTS but it's one of those huge RTS game. I didn't realize Total War was the series and Warhammer was just the skin. That's alright but not having played any Total War games I'm finding the learning curve pretty steep. The tutorial is weak and there are just so many things to manage that I'm spending more time on Youtube learning than playing. I'll probably give up and move on.
I got a free copy of Watch Dogs 2 with something I bought. Looked mediocre. Never even bothered to install it.
