What Games Are You Playing?

  1. Borderlands should only be played multiplayer. I haven't bothered to pick up 3 because I hate Monsly and Chi, they are far too left wing for my liking, never stop talking about Greta Thunberg.

I haven't played anything new for a while, I demanded my mother buy me Outer Worlds and Jedi Fallen Order for Christmas so I will play those soon I guess.

  2. Just started playing Metro Exodus and it looks really good. I'm using the Xbox Beta app and so far it seems to work. I got 4 months free but right now it's only $5 a month. That's a killer deal if you're playing short AAA games. The library is limited but there are few big tittles. Gears 4 and 5, Metro Exodus, The Outer Worlds, Halo: Master Chief Collection, State of Decay 2, Middle Earth Shadow of War, Dishonored 2, Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice.

  3. You little bitch.

  4. I am playing Jedi Fallen Order.

It is OK I suppose, nothing special. I don't feel as powerful in this as I did as Star Killer in the force unleashed. Also the fact that when I use the dual lightsaber my damage output goes down confuses me. Surely it is the same beam of light and so should do the same amount of damage? I was also under the impression that being a souls like it was going to be somewhat difficult, it isn't. I think I read one review that said 'when you get to the first boss you realise how hard this game can be', I don't get that at all. I should have played on a harder difficulty perhaps, the review made me pick normal.

  5. Gears of War 5.

Not a big fan of cover shooters but it's not bad.

  6. Totally Accurate Battle Simulator

It's a stupid game that I'm wasting way to much time on. Maybe just one more round.

  7. Zelda: Breath of the Wild

I am really not sure how I feel about this game. It doesn't feel like a Zelda game at all. It got so many rave reviews when it came out but I find it quite frustrating. I miss the old dungeon and item mechanic, I miss knowing where I am going, I am not particularly fond of needing to equip armour. I HATE with the weapons breaking every 10 seconds and I really don't like the idea of there only being 4 real dungeons (although I haven't gotten to one yet). The shrines are OK but one puzzle and done and whoever thought it was a good idea to make a ball puzzle with the motion controls, well I hope they die of coronavirus.

I will keep playing it because I have spent money on it but it's so meh.

  8. The weapon breakage was my biggest issue of the game. It's such a frequent occurrence that it's not fun at all. I also didn't care for the vast open world that was 90% devoid of content. The shrines were fun in the beginning but after the 50th one I took a break from the game and didn't come back. It's not a bad game but I never understood how it go so many wonderful reviews.

  9. I never finished it, either. I typically don't mind weapon/ armor durability being a part of a game, but it was extreme in this game. Everything seemed like it had a depleting stat or meter. It just wasn't working for me.

  10. Had a similar reaction to Breath of the Wild. Dated graphics, barren world, stuff breaking constantly. Never finished it. I know I have a reputation as more of a PC gamer here, but I’ve played and finished every other major Zelda game. This one just didn’t do it for me for whatever reason.

  11. I downloaded Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Xbox Beta. Reach is the only campaign included right now and I didn't see anyone playing in multiplayer. The Steam version probably has more activity.

  12. Halo is quite popular on Steam. If you're looking to get into it at this point that's what you should be playing it on. You also need to keep in mind that the XB1 has nowhere near the same level of popularity as PC gaming.

  13. It was free on Xbox Beta so I gave it a try.

Moved on to the Outer Worlds. It'd be a mistake to say this game is a Fallout clone. It's more like it's in the Fallout genre whatever that is. It doesn't have the awesome back story or the occasional creepy horror feel, but so far I'm liking it.

  14. Code Vein

I wasn't expecting it to be a good as it is. Now don't get me wrong, it isn't an amazing game but it's good fun. The story is a bit hammy at times but that is to be expected of a Japanese game. I don't understand why none of the women wear proper clothing and have to have everything on show but see my previous point.

Not as hard as a Miyazaki game or as well constructed but fun enough non the less. I have Outer Worlds next.

  15. Ori and the Will of the Wisps. It's a beautiful game.

    Doom Eternal

I'm not liking it as much as the last game. The biggest problem is that they don't give you enough ammo for the main guns. You're then forced to juggle between a flamethrower, grenade launcher, and chainsaw to make up for the lack of ammo, and it's just too much going on and feels like you are being forced to play a certain way.

On the plus side it is well optimized. I can max the game out on a GTX 1070 at 1440p and it stays between about 80 and 100fps. So most anyone should be able to run this well.

  17. This is one of those games where the user reviews do not match the critics' reviews. Ammo thirst and platforming are two things that generally annoy me so I might have to wait on this one.

  18. I'm giving Sunset Overdrive a shot. I can see the appeal of but it's not my style of game. It's like a skateboarding zombie FPS.

  19. I bought Beat Saber for PS4 and tried it for the first time last night. I played it for about an hour and noticed it actually does give you a bit of exercise, which is particularly handy right now given outlets for working out are pretty limited due to Wuhan plague.

I activated the free trial of PS Now and tried out a few games, which included Control and Hollow Knight. Control seems like another good game from Remedy. I intended to buy Control on PC this week to try out the ray tracing and DLSS 2.0 update, but I'm irritated with the idea of paying $60 for a game that came out last year and is selling on PSN for $24. Shadow of the Tomb Raider is also on PS Now, so I may get into that one as well. I tried the demo awhile back, and it looked pretty good on Pro, particularly the HDR implementation.

  20. I played Beat Sabber for about 2 minutes on Oculus Rift and it almost made me buy a VR headset. I'm not sure If I could handle the motion for long sessions but it was a lot of fun.
