Don't know, but the No$Gba website still gets updated so maybe. Desmune is very reliant on RAM, so you would need a lot of it and of course a good enough graphics card to get the best out of it. That said, Desmume is the best DS emulator around and fixes some of the problems which No$Gba has. You have to go into options and change the text from Japanese to English. You need to have the Squall Lionheart English file needed for it though. Just look for a torrent with no$gba, No$zoomer, the DS firmware those 7 and 9 special files and the Lionheart files in it so everything will run perfect. I found one after looking so you can. If your laptop has what I asked, then go for Desmume.
I just tested both 0.9.6 and 0.9.7 with Diamond and it ran perfectly on the later. On 0.9.6 there was a lot of slow down when outside of a building so it would appear a lot of fixes have gone into 0.9.7 which came out in February... Having to go through that damn intro bit twice was a boring process, the things I do for you people!
I knew Desmune is the best one, but until I upgrade my PC I have to stick with No$gba. games like Sand of Destruction lag like hell. On a side note Arma..download Pokemon White as its the best in the series so far.
I had a quick look for black or white and only found Jap versions. I'll have another scout around for an English version of white right now. Update: So I found a link to Pokemon White English and had to fill out some shitty surveys (false name natch) and managed to download the file which was only about 170kb??? It then asked me for a password, this happened when I tried to get an unhacked version of platinum, I couldn't fine the password anywhere so I give up with this bull crap. I'm just gonna play Pearl for now.
Try 0.9.7 it might help. A lot of changes come in with each release, like I said even for me Diamond was slow as hell on 0.9.6 but on 0.9.7 it now works fine... Another example is Mega Man ZX advent, that never worked before 0.9.5 as sprites would go missing. You might find the games you tried to play just didn't work too well with previous releases.
I did manage to get NDS2xGL2 and it seems to have made the screens bigger. Hooray! It's almost double the size. Excellent. Now I'm off. A new adventure awaits me where I'll no doubt meet countless people and pokemon. Are you a boy? You're damn right. I've got the emulator speed at realtime x1.5 so it trots along at a steady 31fps, nice.
lol. Bad news. The game freezes as soon as I KO the first enemy after getting pokemon. Looks like I'll have to give desmume a go even though my laptop probably can't handle it.
I managed 60FPS with DeSmuME 0.9.7 on a 2.93GHz core 2 duo with a generic intel GPU. The second counter is the 3D counter, this shows how fast the retail game runs on the cart to quote the DeSmuME wiki.. I tried to play this game a little bit to see what all the fuss was about afterwards and boy was it boring. By comparison Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin runs at 60FPS both in the emulator and refreshes from the cart at the same rate. Just to prove that 60 wasn't a fixed number I got it to slow down a little going into a crowded area. I am not sure how badly this game is affected by code, everytime I try it on a different system with a faster CPU it does speed up a little but it also does everytime a new version of the emu comes out. When my new i3 laptop arrives I will give that a go as it has the Intel HD 3000 GPU which should help.
Im using desmume right now. It has various screen sizes included and the screens are almost HD clear, it really is way better than no$gba. it seems to run ok in the first little town, I'm going to see if it crashes on that first battle. Is this good? Also is there a way to speed up the emulation to say x1.5 speed? It seems a little sluggish. And yes I'm using version 0.9.7 x86 Well, it didn't crash at the end of that fight, that's a good sign.
Pokemon is a slow game, you can see the 3d is refreshing from the cart at 30FPS so its always going to be slow. You can try using frameskip if you want which is in one of the menus.
I have a P4 2.66GH with 1792 Ram. I doubt that is enough for the new Desmune? Although I have a better graphics card than my old inbuilt one so it may. I will give it a download and see if it works at a normal speed now. To Arma: I got a Pokemon white patched rom from a few different websites before finding a decent torrent one. It is not hard to find, and is much better than Platinum. Frame skip it by one or two to speed up the game, this usually works.
My mate gave me his old PC instead of that other p4 as it was worse until I can get enough money for one. He gave me his old graphics card too and that seems to be working. I have many things to buy, its annoying.
If someone gave it to you that's fine. I just wouldn't spend any more than about $10-20 on a Pentium 4 at this point. They really are crap.
I only needed it for basic things which is doing fine now. Once I can upgrade everything or buy a proper one then I will be fine. Emulators like PS1, below consoles and most games on DS all work fine on this system.
I think I'll stick with pearl for now. I want to see all the new pokemon and experience the game before moving on to the current generation. Up until now I've fully played through: Red Yellow Gold Crystal Ruby Sapphire Emerald I recently started Leaf Green but now I have Pearl working I won't bother.
Pokémon games are farrrr too slow for me to play, doing anything takes an age and grinding is a real chore. If you play the old ones on a GB or GBA emulator its OK as you can speed the game up a few hundred percent but 1:1 play bores me after a couple of minutes.
