What Games Are You Playing?

  1. The complete edition with the DLC included (normally priced at $30 by itself) is $37 on cdkeys right now.

  2. I bought Dead or Alive 2 Ultimate and Dead or Alive 3 on my Series S. I can't get over how well they hold up today, especially DoA2U.

  3. I finally got Cyber Punk Phantom Liberty but I haven't played it yet. I picked up Tiny Tina's Wonderland on sale and it's consuming a lot of my time. It's not great, but I guess even a mediocre FPS can suck me in. I suppose I like it better than Borderlands 3 just because of the story and narration aspect. Some people say it's worse for the same reasons.

  4. I downloaded the "next gen" update for Fallout 4 so I can play it on my ultrawide monitor without it being distorted, but I've discovered the font is so outrageously large that I can't see the text to even name my character at the beginning of the game and you can't seem to adjust the font size in the Settings. Bethesda...Bethesda never changes.

I'm sure I can fix this by getting into an ini file but am too annoyed to bother right now. How could they screw something up that is so basic? Unreal.

  5. No one playing HellDivers 2?

  6. @bfun

It looks like it’s mainly a coop game and I don’t know anyone who plays it.

  7. I've been playing a decent amount of Stellar Blade over the past few days, and my initial impressions are around 8/10 game, very good for a new IP from a developer that previously made mobile games. The combat system is very solid, it looks fantastic and runs well, and in general it is fun to play. It has a few rough edges, including the limited platforming I've experiencing being very rough and frustrating and one of the most exasperating mini-games I've encountered where you need to be a rhythm game grandmaster or just suffer attrition for an hour until you get randomly lucky and complete it.

After the first few areas, you encounter a much more open area where I've been playing, a large desert map. Difficulty is pretty tough but not as rough as the most hardcore hack and slashers like Ninja Gaiden or DMC on harder difficulties, and there is an Easy mode if you just wanted to coast more through the game (definitely not my thing, but it's there for those who want that). There are lots of side quests in the open area and town and a decent variety of upgrades. It's not quite in the tier to contend for GOTY but will probably get many Action Game of the Year nominations and maybe some wins. It seems extremely likely this game will get a sequel.

  8. I want to try it but I have horrible flash backs to rando match making in Left for Dead 2. This might be worse because team killing is on.

  9. Marvel Midnight Suns

I bought this on a whim and a steam sale. It's not amazing, but I also went for 3.5 hours on my first play so I guess it's good enough. It's a turned based tactile X-Com style RPG with Marvel super heroes.

  10. I was remembering the launch of Sega Dreamcast launched on 9-9-99 25 years ago that was Thursday i remember going to Electronic Boutique to get my long waited console and remember getting with the game Sonic Adventure and Blue Stinger and right now i'm playing Sonic Adventure in my dreamcast., Yes still have the console..
Wow! that was 25 years ago ...i'm getting old.:(

  11. I've been playing the new Astro Bot game. It's even a bit better than I expected. I think Team ASOBI is the only team that can genuinely complete head to head with Nintendo's best Mario games. Performance looks locked at 60 fps. Design is fantastic. Art style is beautiful and charming. This is currently the highest rated game in 2024 besides the Elden Ring DLC, which is also excellent but is not a full game.

  12. Watches are timekeeping devices worn on the wrist or carried in a pocket. They come in various styles, designs, and functionalities, ranging from classic analog watches with mechanical movements

  13. I was playing Disney Dreamlight Valley for a while. It was fun. Kind of like a Stardew Valley, but with Disney Characters. It does turn into a grind after awhile and I wasn't into the designing aspect very much. Played through most of Stray, but lost interest towards the end. Started Dave the Diver. It's okay.

  14. I have been mostly replaying the Mass Effect games in the Legendary Edition. I ran through all 3 all on Insanity difficulty and completed 100% of the achievements a few minutes ago.

I tried Halo Infinite on my new setup because it never ran well on my old one.

The 9070 XT absolutely pimp slaps this game. On the same settings where I was struggling to get 60 FPS in the outdoor areas it gets something like 350 FPS. I ended up just putting everything on ultra and it still gets 180-200 FPS in the big outdoor areas. The FPS lows are also impressive. It never goes below 130 FPS on Ultra.

I'm looking at other people playing on Youtube and it actually runs a bit better than it did on the 4080 and 7900 XTX. I'm guessing that's the newer architecture.

I also have to say that AMD's drivers are a lot better now. I haven't had a single issue with any game I've tried. And this card runs cool and quiet. Like it idles at 30C and maybe gets to 60C under load and never makes a sound. If you fared over everything and told me this was an Nvidia card, I would believe you.

I think I'm going to give Alan Wake 2 a go next. I've seen it running native (no FSR) on ultra at 1440p at 120fps on this card in videos, which is wild considering it could barely run on anything when it came out a few years ago. Again, probably the newer architecture at work.

  16. I ran my 5700XT for 4 years and never had driver issues. Of course I don't play every game out there, but to me the AMD driver issue always seemed like a non-issue.
