I bought Battlefield Bad Company 2 off steam on the final day of the summer sale. Going to get that tried out soon; I liked the console version but the gfx suffered in areas and I'm really looking forward to playing it on a nice computer.
I got BC2 for $5 during the Steam holiday sale and it was money well spent. I had a lot more fun with it than anything in the CoD franchise.
Picked up the iOS version of Sid Meier's Pirates! that was just recently released for $3.99. This game seems like it's been around forever and I've always wanted to play it...just never had the opportunity.
It basically HAS een around forever :x nice to see the PC's shovelware popping up in the mobile space. Mac users should be able to play games some time...
I'd call it a PC classic, rather than PC shovelware. It's also the type of game that translates well into touch controls. I just spent the last couple of hours playing. I guess my neck and arms should be crippled right now according to cmdrmonkey...
Say whut? Pirates is an absolutely classic game. You must have very exacting standards to class it as shovelware. In other news, finally managed to get Psychonauts on the PS2 today. Looking forward to trying it out.
Picked up Earth Defence Force: Insect Armageddon today for the PS3. So far it hasn't lived up to EDF 2017 on the 360 but it's still a good game. It's got some good online options so that's a big bonus. This game has different classes and a levelling system too, so there's a bit of depth too. Could be a good game for us PS3 PVCers to try I reckons.
Then you can go burn in hell. Maybe the nostalgia plays a big part in my love of the game but I think it's a really nicely designed.
I just bought New Vegas and Bioshock 2 on the PS3. I paid £13 since I had £7 saved on my card that I used. Still, even without the money off using the card I still would have only paid £20 for the two as they were part of the huge 2 for £20 deal they always have going on at gamestation. That's right, two huge games that were released only last year, for a tenner each... and monsly says their second hand selection and prices are crap. Ha, I say.
I assume that's £21.93 for the pair. Even if it is it's more than I would have paid (£20) and it's much more than I ended up paying (£13). So your point is if I'd gone to play.com I would have had to have paid £8.93 more PLUS have to wait a few days. I sure don't feel like a sucker.
You had £7 on a Gamestation card. By the same logic, the games I bought using a play.com gift voucher were totally free - what a rip off Gamestation are. In reality, you paid £1.93 less for secondhand. It's hardly a great advert for the cash savings you can make AND you've given less to the developers. You BASTARD.
I buy games, I couldn't care less who the money goes to. The developers will still make millions and will still continue to make the games regardless of whether or not I spend an extra quid or two. Regarding the gift voucher, did you have to buy that voucher? I'm guessing someone did. The £7 I saved cost me nothing. Also the only difference between brand new and second hand is the fact that second hand games are cheaper, at least the ones I buy are. I actually could have bough Medal Of Honor instead of Bioshock 2 on the 2 for £20 deal but then I remembered it was from EA so I'd have to buy the privilege of playing it online, no thanks. Bottom line. I bought two games that are only about a year old for less than a tenner each because I went pre-owned. Winning.
2 for £20 doesn't mean they each cost less than £10. And how'd you get £7 on your card? Trading? The point is their secondhand prices aren't that great. You could've got nee for practically the same price. If you went secondhand online, it'd be even cheaper.
yes but what did you do to get that 7 pounds discount? I'm guessing you dealt with their overpriced games for all that time and all you got out of it was a measely 7 'quid'! Startin to think I'd be better off if I just bought all my games on ebay :/
This is how I got the £7 saved up on my card... I bought pre-owned games for a few months, usually on their 2 for £20 deal. I was being rewarded for buying games on the cheap, how is that not awesome? @monsly If I bought two games for a total of £13 (which I did) then that means I bought 2 huge games that are less than a year old for less than a tenner each. Just like a few years ago when I bough Oblivion and Condemned for a total of £11 thanks to the rewards they gave me for buying their cheap games in the first place. @Pdraggy Overpriced games??? How can any of you sit there and say good games that are £10 each are overpriced? That's a quarter of the price I'd have to pay for most new games. You and monsly seem to think that pre-owned games in shops like gamestation are overpriced. £10 for a PS3/Xbox 360 game is cheap, fact. If I've saved up £7 on my card that's almost the price of a game on the deal! 2 games for £20 is an absolute steal, and I paid £13, BARGAIN! It's not like I had to pay anything extra to earn that £7 off because I was going to buy games anyway, I might as well earn money off future purchases while I'm at it. Contrary to what you two believe the only thing overpriced about shops like gamestation are the new games. Why spend £45 on one game when you can have 4 games for that price pre-owned?
I'm not sure what it's like in Britain, but I've almost always found Amazon to be cheaper than brick and mortar places for console games.
