What Games Have You Bought Recently?

  1. Can you find Fallout New Vegas and Bioshock 2 for less than £6.50 each? Because that's how much I paid for them today.

  2. I see Bioshock 2 for $5.90 and New Vegas for $9.42 on Amazon.

    £6.50 = $10.63

I'd say you got ripped off on Bioshock 2. Also, it's cheap because it sucked. I pirated it and deleted it without finishing it because I felt like I was wasting my time.

  3. Ok, so maybe if I was ok with having to wait a few days I could have saved a couple quid there. But I still stand by the fact that the fact that the games I buy are cheap, contrary to some people's beliefs.

  4. I got suckered into Gspot's gamer's card dealie thing, the pro package, simply because it was my birthday month and I was about to go crazy with tons of dough... anyway I added it up even WITH my savings and WITH any 'rewards' I may have earned I'm still out 20 bucks from not signing up for some promo and just buying it all from Amazon. I'd get some of it new too!

BUT I end up spending that extra for the superior selection and not having to wait for shipping. If not for the extra birthday savings, the amount I spent (due to limited availability some of the stuff is more expensive or non-existent at amazon, such as a used console?) and junk it would have been a TERRIBLE deal. I still feel cheated (though I do have a ton of great games to play :)) but I am willing to pay for the privilege. Not any more though... that was a one time event... unless I win the lottery or something :)

What I'm saying is, even many of the 'sales' you see at those b&m places... unless it's super slickdeals worthy like, you can probly find a better deal online. I'd bet New Vegas and Bioshock 2 goes for a tenner each online anyway! You don't see a lot of savings at places like that, just a lot of hullabaloo.

In fact New Vegas is about 15 us bucks on sale and Bioshock 2 is practically free!! This is PC prices though (and not only that but digital distributing where you don't buy the rights... exactly), it tends to be way more on consoles :( but what this DOES say is it's not worth much and will probably go down in price/ hit bargain bins rather quickly. Your a year late and a dollar short is all :/

  5. If I'd been all that interested in buying these games when they first came out I'd have done just that, but instead I bought other games. You can come up with examples and personal experiences all you want. £10 for a PS3 game is cheap and that's simply all that matters.

I've just seen Red Dead Redemption on amazon for £14.99 (PS3), that's £4.99 more than it would be on the 2 for £20 deal. That's almost half the price of a game on their deal. It would seem amazon does not always have the best prices after all.

  6. EA gave me a free copy of the PC version of Dead Space 2 for being an Alpha tester of Battlefield 3. Pretty cool.

I've been having good fortunes with EA lately. I enjoyed the Alpha, got BF3 pre-ordered with extras for $45, and now I got Dead Space 2 for free.

  7. Nice... can you get me a copy of Madden 12?? lol

  8. I had a choice between MoH, Mass Effect 2, and Dead Space 2. I got into the Alpha by buying MoH, I have ME2 and the DLC, so that left Dead Space 2.

    Madden wasn't an option.

  9. So this is where the money from their online passes go.

  10. I pre-purchased Deus Ex: Human Revolution for PC. It as $45 for the standard version. I'm preloading it now. It weighs in at 8.47 GB.

I have been waiting for some games to drop in price recently, including nabbing The Witcher 2 for just $33, but $45 seemed like a really nice deal for Deus EX: HR. I read some very nice previews about the PC version and decided to go for it. It appears to feature multiple pathways to enhance replay value, and the overall quality is apparently pretty high. From what I've read, they put in some extra effort on the PC version and insisted that it is not another poor quality console port. Heaven forbid if it was consolized, the ultimate sin of a developer.

  11. Newegg had it for 39, I nearly got it than...

  12. Decided to pick up Pinball Hall of Fame: Williams Collection for the 360 at $23. I really enjoyed the Wii version, and look forward to playing the tables in HD. Plus, and I hadn't realized this before, it includes 3 new tables that are all highly regarded...No Good Gophers, Tales of the Arabian Nights, and Medieval Madness.

  13. F'ing great. PHOF: Williams Collection for the 360 appears to have lag issues with the flippers, even when using a wired controller. I looked around on various forums and it seems to be a problem for some and not for others, both on the 360 and PS3 versions. I had the same lag issue on an XBLA pinball game, but never with any other type of 360 game...WTF??

  14. Could the issue be TV related? Seems weird it doesn't affect everyone.

Regarding new games, I really need to do an update. I've bought loads of games recently. Yesterday I nabbed Ghost Trick on the DS. It's by the Phoenix Wright chap. It's quite unique; basically you're a ghost and you need to find out who murdered you. The game is basically a bit of an adventure/puzzle game where you possess things and junk. The animation is absolutely beautiful; reminiscent of Another World and Flashback. It's really full of character and has been great fun at the early stages. Recommended indeed.

  15. I've bought Oblivion and Morrow wind for PC off steam, it only cost me $15 for them and they were the Deluxe and GoTY versions respectively, so they came with all the extra content that's been released. All in all a very good deal.

  16. Possible. I did buy a new TV in the last year, but had no problems whatsoever with lag when playing L.A. Noire on my 360. I've already tried running the composite cables directly to the TV, rather than through the switcher box...didn't help. I'm going to try switching to the specific "video game" mode on the TV, as well as try the Wii version again to see if it's acting differently. Never had any lag problems with the Wii version, but haven't tried it on this TV.

  17. Played the demo (downloadable via the Wii) and found it weird because of the need to constantly repeat the sequence.

You start, discover the first correct move, fail. Start again, redo the first move, discover the second one, fail. And so on. It's old "Dragon's Lair" formula with modern implementation.

  18. Monsly, you crafty devil! :D It did indeed turn out to be the TV's AV mode that was causing problems. I wonder why that issue is specific to pinball and not other games that would seem to be more AV intensive, like L.A. Noire or Red Dead Redemption.

  19. it's not really like a QTE style game; true, there's only one solution but it doesn't rely on reactions like Dragon's Lair games. It's more about thinking things through, each scene is like a puzzle. I've really enjoyed it so far; as long as the solutions don't become too obtuse then I think it'll be an excellent game.

  20. I'm glad you've found the cause. I've noticed similar issues with older console games on my HDTV. I found the old pinball games I've tried to really show the issue up; I struggled on Pinball Fantasies in particular. Had to try to factor in a slight lag when playing and that kind of ruined it. I guess the genre being built around sharp responses really shows the issue up; I think modern games have more inherent lag so it notices less.
