Plants vs Zombies IOS. Bargain fot 82p plus its quite fun when your bored and have nothing else to do.
Bahaha, indeed. There's a bunch of these style games in the play store (all clones of the Pandemic flash game), but this was the big one. I'd be inclined to believe it was some malware app if it didn't have big marketing before it came out and the dev didn't have so much to gain from in-app purchases. I'm stuck on fungus right now.
Plague inc is the best one of those style games I've played. With fungus, I waited a long while before evolving it. Then concentrated on making it infectious, ignored a lot of the plane/boat upgrades as they didn't help. Think I started in either Egypt or Greenland. Very tough to wipe everyone out on the hardest level. Not sure how that new thing about modifying genes before you start works - mine are all locked. You got any idea khaid?
Indeed, you're right about the plane/boat transmissions. Fungus seems to be all about the spore explosions for infections. I'll just pop them everywhere before doing anything else. The gene modifications require you to spend $$$ for the full game. The free doesn't allow it. You unlock them as you beat each scenario, but you gotta pay for the full game to actually use them.
you're best off getting it nicely infectious then using a few spore infections; it can spread quickly across continents that way, You'll need some spore bursts towards the end if the islands avoid being contaminated. Not sure if I want to pay for genes too - I got the cheats and some other mode but I don't see the appeal in genes.
Crysis was alot better than Crysis 2, which I found took away alot of the freedom and felt more like a corridor shooter (albeit very pretty corridors). Good to hear the world is more open than Crysis 2, atleast. I remember Crytek saying this will "melt down PCs" in terms of performance. With my setup I'm hoping to play on Very High settings, but probably without MSAA. (Don't care much for MSAA anyway, performance tradeoff isn't worth it). The bow is an interesting addition although admittedly when I first heard about it, I thought "walking around in a multi-billion dollar nanosuit and uses bows and arrows, yeah okay", but it does sound awesome to work with in stealth. The multiplayer in Crysis 2 was forgettable and judging by the reviews, it doesn't look like they've made any significant changes to that. I'll still pick this one up sometime next week, hopefully.
Bought Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks for £5 off Ebay earlier. Not played it yet but enjoyed phantom hourglass so thought I would treat myself.
@AKS do you Beta test? Maybe they can't find somebody *ahem* with the latest GPU to properly beta test for them? lol
I got tempted by the very positive reviews of Tomb Raider and bought it on Steam. Got burned badly. It is crash-happy for Nvidia cards. Disabling tessellation helps a bit, but they need a serious driver update to address this nonsense. On the (quite minor) upside, TressFX hair effects seem to work on my Nvidia cards. I thought that would be an AMD-exclusive feature just as the CUDA stuff in Just Cause 2 was Nvidia-exclusive. The "next gen hair" effect is pretty demanding, though. That game looks very nice when it's not crashing to desktop. I saw a couple of videos, but it looks much better actually running on my PC. It seems like it will be an excellent game if I can ever actually run it without crashing every 5 to 10 minutes. I found myself getting into it each time I've played it only to become enraged that it crashed again.
Nvidia is publicly apologizing for Tomb Raider running like crap. They just got the final game code less than a week ago apparently. Crystal Dynamics is also going to have to do their share with patches to get it running properly on Nvidia cards. What a mess. AMD's TressFX is getting a lot of the blame. Some are claiming it's screwing things up even if it's switched off. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-03-07-nvidia-apologises-to-tomb-raider-pc-players-plagued-by-geforce-issues I got a pretty scary crash while playing this game. It restarted my entire computer in safe mode. It just doesn't seem stable. I just got a patch yesterday, so I thought that fixed it, as I hadn't had a crash for over an hour of play with the patch, but it still is a bit of a disaster even with that patch.
Yeah it seems a little Monty Pythonish. The thumb controls take some getting used to and the save points are a bit far apart but overall it seems alright. I wish the graphics were a little sharper.
Here in the states, this is the season for income tax refunds and I went crazy with mine. An Xbox 360 with Forza 4 & Skyrim pack-in, BLOPS2, Halo 4, Gears 3, Crackdown, and Bayonetta. And I also have Gears 4 on pre-order, so I can pick it up in 2 days.
Does GOWJ come out early for you guys then? We're not getting it until the 22nd. Although I can play the overrun demo until Tuesday.
Games in the USA come out on Tuesdays, games here come out on Fridays. Some games get a simultaneous launch and so we get the odd Tuesday launch such as Tomb Raider last week.
