What Games Have You Bought Recently?

  1. I play a fair few of them but mainly it's building up my collection in various ways. Most if the games I pick up are a few pounds but are worth more online. The best bargain from above is Jet Set Radio Future; paid £1 and it's worth around £15-20.

Demon Souls seemed like a very good game when I tried it. Be warned that it's a fair bit tougher than Oblivion!

  2. That is the beauty of it. Demon Souls is a hard game requiring patience, skill and thought. Unlike most other easy games around these days.

  3. I just Brought Fight Night Champion today, Had a quick razzle on the Championship mode and I've gotta say I love it, it's got a quality story and the graphics and control system are Amazing, If you like fighting games you'll like this

  4. I find it a general rule that people who like Elderscrolls usually also like Demon's Souls (and this does not necessarily apply to Dragon Age / Mass Effect et consortes). You are one to confirm that this holds.

And according to the rule I should rather be satisfied. I do not think I'll be able to go deeply into the game, probably it could be too tough to play for a long time. But I need something refreshing between the New Vegas I slowly finish at the moment and the Skyrim in November (hopefully with Zelda and Uncharted somewhere in between).

  5. How does it compare to Fight Night Round 4? I never thought much of the single player in that game but it was great for the odd fight with my mates!

  6. I prefer the Control system more in fight night round 4 but thats just because I was more used to it I suppose, The new game has more punches and You can put together better combo's And it's much harder I used to win by KO in the first round in FNR4 even on the hardest setting in this one I find myself havin close wars, the Story mode Is fun but pretty short and the end boss Is annoying, the legacy mode has been Improved quite a bit as they've made the training and upgrades better and the customization.
    better.

Overall I'd say Champion is a better game so far although it can be annoying sometimes.

  7. Ooh! You just got my juices flowing!!

Luke, you are still random capital lettering it.

  8. Ah, hell, I just caved and bought Crysis 2 from Steam for full price. Shame on me. :( I want to play it now. The preorder goodies were still available, so I just decided to go for it.

  9. Just picked up Crysis 2 for PS3... I must say my jaw is floored!!

Yes, it doesn't look as good as Crysis 1 on PC (which I still own), but it's an awesome PS3 game. Totally better than Killzone 3, which at the time when I bought it a few weeks ago, was the best game so far this year. Crysis 2 blows KZ3 AWAY!!! 1080p and 3D-TV support (now I need a 3D LED TV :D ), smooth framerate, solid controls, good story, and the action is well paced.

My next anticipated game this year is Gears of War 3 (but I'll have KZ3, Crysis 2, and MvC3 to keep me company till then)

  10. Wait, does Crysis 2 on PS3 have 3D? Why none of the reviewers have noticed this or reviewed this?:p 3D is a pretty new gimmick so wouldve bin worth to review with a GOTY game like this.

And yes, couldnt agree more, Crysis 2 blows UC2/KZ3 away in graphics, but gameplay awel, for sure its gameplay is better then KZ3's.

  11. Blows away? Hyperbole much? What experience of Uncharted and KZ3 do you have?

  12. In all honest, UC1 ivent played, but i played UC2 (maybe 3 hours?), and KZ3 ive played aswel, so far, Crysis 2 have impressed me more graphically, aswel as gameplay elements, but guess those are personal opinions. And yes on PS3. If KZ3 is technically more impressive, could be, but Crysis 2 just looks better to the eye.

  13. It’s been a little while.  What piles of mainly unplayed games have I added to my collection? Well, let’s start here:

    PS3:

    Apache: Air Assault

Apache helicopter sim thing by Gaijin.  Seems pretty decent but not worth full price.  Thought the local co-op might be a laugh but, sadly, it doesn’t split the screen so that makes it fair less enjoyable; if the gunner could look around separately to the pilot it would have been cool.  Quite complicated to control on a pad but feels like it could have potential.

    360:

    Kinect Adventures

I’ve only tried it for a bit but it seemed bloody awful.  What a terrible game to package with Kinect.

    Dance Central

Now this is more like it.  A great showcase for the game and a lot of fun.  I think, given the lack of button input, Kinect will struggle with a lot of traditional games but this sort of thing shows where it has great potential.  Only let down is the mixture of songs could be stronger and the recognition for certain moves can be a little off sometimes.  A great laugh though and highly recommended if the idea of the game tempts you in anyway.

Other stuff I’ve bought but haven’t tried yet:

    360:
    Magna Carta 2
Chronicles of Riddick: Assault on Dark Athena

    PC:
    Civilization IV: Warlords Pack

    Xbox:
Grand Theft Auto 3 and VC

    Gamecube:
    Tony Hawk’s 3 and 4
    F Zero GX

    Spectrum:
    Wanted: Monty Mole
    Monty is Innocent
    Rockford The Arcade Game

I have no idea why I bought Spectrum games.  It worries me.

  14. No one picked up the best looking console game ever? (360 Crysis 2)

  15. What a weird little chap you are.

  16. Spectrum, I.... I've never even heard of that, what is it an old console I presume?

  17. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Spectrum

  18. Lol, its a home computer aswel

  19. I went out at lunch time with the intent of buying at least one game and I couldn't do it, my cheap ways of the past 2 years are going to be hard to break.

    I almost brought..

The Professor Layton games BUT although I really want them, didn't want to pay £70
Batman Arkham Asylum BUT I kind of want it but am not sure
3D Dot Games Heroes (same as above)
Red Dead Redemption BUT I didn't get on with GT IV and fear it will be the same
Killzone 3 BUT I felt it wasn't worth it until I get a headset
Nintendo 3DS BUT wasn't going to pay shop price when I can get it so much cheaper online.

I need to get it through to my brain that it is now OK to spend money as I have more at my disposal!

  20. Ultimate Electronics had 50% off all games so I picked up Force Unleashed: Ultimate Sith Edition for $20.
