What Games Have You Bought Recently?

  1. I heard The Witcher is pretty damn tough and has a steep learning curve - that true? It's what has put me off in the past.

  2. I just don't get how people can rave about games like these saying they're so amazing when really they're not. I'm not sure about the second Uncharted now, phisix says it's awesome but that's what people told me about this one.

  3. What changes is particular? I’ve only started chapter 2. I don’t like the leveling system as much and Geralt seems a bit less intense which may be due to the voice acting. Dandelion seems less interesting but Triss is pretty cool. I’ve had to dial down the difficulty twice for boss battles because I can’t hit the keys fast enough. Some have said a controller makes it easier.

  4. They are amazing. Of course they're not going to be for everyone. Plenty of people bought the Treyarch COD games and liked them. The world's a big place.

  5. How can you not like Uncharted! It has everything you want from a game. Remember it has been out for 3 or 4 years already.

I saw Alan Wake for £8 today so had to buy it. Hopefully it has a good story and some decent enough game play.

  6. I'm not saying I don't like it, I'm just rather indifferent to it, it seems like an extremely average game all round.

  7. I'm not saying it's the best game ever but it is a good and fun one. Uncharted 2 on the other hand just takes it to the next level. The story is amazing, as well as the locations and set pieces. The whole thing is just pure epic.

Trust, it is far different to uncharted 1. Uncharted was confined to a island whereas uncharted 2 is around the world and is more epic in every area.

  8. Those were my impressions as well. I did enjoy how the story was so entwined in the game play but I thought Heavy Rain was a better game over all.

  9. Heavy Rain is in a different class. I'm playing Arkham Asylum right now. It's good.

  10. Wait until you complete Uncharted 2 to state something like that. :p Arkham Asylum any good? been wanting to play that for a while!

  11. Batman AA is an immense game. It's a 3d metroidvania with a great combat engine that's fantastically presented. It's AWESOME.

  12. It's pretty decent so far, I'm enjoying it much more than Uncharted. It's good fun grappling up the the gargoyles and moving from to another while watching your enemies become gripped with fear. Tap L2 and you enter detective mode where you can see enemies through walls and even monitor their heartbeat and stress levels. So far I've got standard baterangs (which can be upgraded) and I've just retrieved some explosive gel from my batmobile, after I beat up the goons trying to trash it of course :)

The combat seems well executed too, you can seamlessly switch targets mid combo and lay the smackdown in any direction. There's a lot of upgrades you can buy too (with xp earned from beating people up etc) I've bought two upgrades so far. The first one lets me dangle upside down from the gargoyles and snatch fools as they wander below me and string them up, that really puts the willies up their buddies lol. I've also upgraded the combat so perfectly timed punches and kicks do double damage. Get the demo and you'll see for yourself.

I think I'll give this Uncharted 3 beta a try to see how different it is from the original.

  13. bfun GOTY!!!

  14. How can anyone not like Mass Effect 2?

What, you don't like hot chicks, an awesome story, and great combat? Seriously, what's not to like? Mass Effect 2 is a serious contender for best game I've ever played. It manages to outdo the original in almost every way, which is impressive, because the original game was also pretty amazing.

Did you not play the first game? Maybe you have no idea what's going on? Your decisions from the first game carry over, so you can't skip it. Literally. You import a save file from the first game and everything you do in first game affects the second. I also seem to remember you saying you got it for the PS3. Bad move. Get it for PC.

  15. The original was so amazing it was better!

  16. I really liked the Mako tank, but I just thought the dating sim aspect and so many other things were done better in the second game that it edges it out.

  17. I don't dislike it I just don't think it's the all conquering game of awesomeness everyone else seems to think it is. Although the combat is decent there's nothing about it that particularly impresses me. You're right though I probably would enjoy it more if I'd played the original instead of going through the 5 minutes interactive comic, but if it was much like the second then I probably would've felt the same way anyway. I was expecting more RPG elements like earning xp on the fly and more customisation. The game just didn't entertain me all that much, I found myself playing it for the sake of playing it rather than for the enjoyment, much like Borderlands. I haven't really played that much at all since I bought it. I've not played it in multiplayer but I can't imagine it's much better than on your own.

  18. You can't condense a 30+ hour RPG into five minutes. Also, the console versions kind of suck. The have long load times, and graphical glitches.

I would try it again on PC starting with the first game. It's a big, epic story, and not the kind of thing you can just jump into right in the middle. In fact, you're missing out on one of the most unique aspects, which is that your decisions from the first game carry over. It has an incredibly immersive universe that will suck you in like an expensive whore if you let it.

Also, the first game had far more customization, to the point where a lot of people complained about too much micromanagement and wanted it more streamlined.

Your laptop has an 8600GT and should run both games fine.

Yes it is, and anyone who says otherwise has shitty taste in games. Not liking Mass Effect 2 is the video game equivalent of not liking the Godfather.

  19. It insists upon itself lol. I might give them a go on the old laptop then if I can get them off steam nice and cheap. By the way I know it's not the same but the interactive comic gave you choices to make to determine how ME2 plays out such as letting the Rachni Queen go or kill her, whether or not to kill Wrex and who to choose as the human representative (or whatever) on the council.

  20. And how would any of those things mean anything to you without experiencing the game?

Do you also make a habit of walking into movies right in the middle and saying they suck because you don't know what's going on?
