Give it a go then. You won't be disappointed. I'm mostly afraid that you're going to get really into it and then be pissed when you can't watch Season 4.
There were a few episodes I thought were a bit meh and nothing much really happened. I was catching up watching it online so I just went to the next episode. I'd have been annoyed if I'd waited a week ad sat through an hour of not a lot just to have to wait another week. South Park is better. *flameon*
Worth giving the US Office a go if you get Netflix, as well It's always sunny and dexter. Some good stuff on there. I started watching the first breaking bad but my wife wasn't really in the mood for watching it so that was that. Will give it a proper try sometime.
I hated the US office when I watched bits of it on comedy central, just another stupid American comedy. Its no where near as bad as scrubs which is probably the worst thing I have ever seen but it is up there.
South Park jumped the shark ages ago. It hasn't been good since 2006. Also, if you skipped episodes I'm guessing you missed huge parts of the plot. An episode may start out slow, but it's the kind of show where crazy stuff happens out of nowhere. It has no wasted episodes as far as I can recall. It's an intelligent show, so I guess I'm not surprised that a dudebro wouldn't have the attention span for it. And Breaking Bad is not a show you can judge by the extremely short first season. The main plot of the show doesn't really get going until season 2. Season 1 is just an overview of the characters and setup for the show really. Every AMC show is done in that fashion where the first 6 episodes are more or less an extended pilot.
@grim: The US version of The Office is so much better than the UK one. The first season is lacking as it apes the UK counterpart too much and it sets up the characters. After that, it just gets better and better. It's a character driven comedy so it needs to be watched in order but it's so worth it.
@monkey I never said it wasn't good. In fact I said it was really good. I never said I missed episodes or that I only watched the first season (which I thought was one of the best, if I recall I thought season 3 was the runt of the litter). Honestly I had a hard time thinking of shows that are better, but I dont watch much tv as most of it is just pure shite.
So what season did you skip episodes in? Season 3 had some dragging ones I thought and I remember a few in Season 2 as well. The thing is the episodes compliment each other very well. Experiencing one that you might find a little tedious makes the next all the more awesome. Just gotta have some patience, lots of shows and movies are like this.
I think I've decided that the exact moment when Twin Peaks jumps the shark is when David Duchovny shows up in drag. It's just such an outrageous moment that's done for no other reason than to try to get some attention after the murder plot wraps up.
HBO's The Newsroom Kind of pretentious and preachy with stilted dialogue. I agree with the liberal/progressive points it's trying to make, but it's way too heavy handed. On top of that, the issues it's bringing up are two or three years out of date. It has the feel of something that was filmed a few years ago and then left on the shelf. It also just seems more like a network TV show. It's not really of the caliber I've come to expect from HBO.
I just watched the first ep of Breaking Bad last night. I about died laughing when the DEA agents made a bet if the meth cook would be mexican or not. Then the guys name ended up being Emilio Koyama.
Addicted to Game of Thrones... who was the chick ya'll were going crazy over? Kalisi's hand maiden is friggen hot! The scene where she's in the tub with her (Kalisi's not the hand maiden) idiot brother (ep 6? I think) had me beggin for more. I didn't say that though but... Good series I like it. ------------ aah, S2 Ep4, not there yet oh well. I look forward to it :|
I need a new show guys but it has to be epic. I have one more episode of Sons of Anarchy of season 4 to watch and Supernatural, Game of Thrones and Walking dead are still on a break. I don't no cheesy crap, just epic stuff like the four above. I keep hearing about breaking bad but the trailer made it look boring and Monkey also said it has some slow filler episodes or something..
Breaking Bad is about as epic as it gets. Especially Season 2. Your mind will be blown. You could also give the Battlestar Galactica remake a go if you like sci-fi. It's an excellent show, and it's only four short seasons and a few specials, so it's not hard to get into. It's a pretty good mix of post apocalyptic sci-fi and space combat. Aside from FTL travel, it's not far fetched. There are no aliens. It's just humans fighting AI.
And this fucking guy Secrets, drugs, money, power, loyalty, disolving bodies with acid, great writing and absolutely top notch acting all round. I was going to show you a pic of someone with half their face blown off but seeing it would be a spoiler. Just watch it. I'm not really a tv guy but this made me put down the controller and watch.
I already saw the face guy on youtube when looking for a trailer lol. Thought you said some episodes can get slow?
Yeah but they're far outweighed by awesome episodes. Walt keeps getting deeper and deeper into the shit and you can't help but wonder how he's going to get out of this particular situation. The point of no return is crossed many times throughout the show.
I have a habit of dismissing a show and years later I try it and love it(Game of Thrones and Sons of anarchy) so I will give season 1 a try.
