What TV Shows Are You Watching?

  1. Not in the films!

  2. I finished season 3 of Heroes over the weekend. I felt totally robbed when it came down to the epic fight between Sylar and the Petrelli brothers. The camera just stayed outside the locked door with Claire peeking in through a gap. You could see and hear that there was some serious electrical power going on but never got to see it. Such a cheap way to end the series, it could've been awesome. Just as I was disappointed they never showed us mutant lizard/snake Mohinder other than a dark shadow in some short future sequence.

I'm on the final season now and I must have seen some of these before because I remember Claire jumping from the ferris wheel at the carnival in front of a load of cameras which I'm guessing is the end of season 4 but I thought it was the end of season 2 (before I rewatched season 2 that is).

So far the first season has easily been the best. I'm really getting tired of pretty much everyone changing their alliegences from week to week, never knowing who is really a good guy. I'm kind of glad they didn't go beyond 4 seasons, it's getting a little tiresome now, I just want closure on the story at ths point.

On a final note I cannot believe how many deaths there have been in this show. It's crazy just how many people, main cast or otherwise, have been killed in the 3 seasons I've watched so far. The body count almost makes RoboCop jealous, almost.

  3. Your lucky I don't want to watch Heroes with all your spoilers.

  4. The fourth season is the worst. Especially the part where they all get shrunk down and are forced to play on the Candy Land board game.

  5. I'm not lucky. I knew you didn't want to watch it, it was a strategic spoiler reveal.

  6. Then again, I may enjoy it if I tried it. I never liked the look of Breaking Bad and Son's of Anarchy at first and now I love them.

What is good about Heroes then?

  7. The first season. Thats it.

  8. Heroes is for fags.

  9. Have you watched it?

  10. Enough of it to know it's garbage.

Seriously, with so many great shows, I don't know why you'd waste your time on garbage like that.

  11. I havent and wont. I prefer better series tbh.

  12. Well. I've just finished the final season of Heroes, just a couple of "webisodes" and that'll be that. I honestly felt like the programme slowly got worse as it progressed through the seasons. Season 4 was was rather dull what with all the carnival gumph.

  13. Justified Season 4.

Story is building slowly and entertaining enough, BUT 3 episodes in and Raylon hasn't shot anybody! The slow build better pay off over the full arc.

  14. Another UK show from the 'telly', the netflix telly :)

Anyway Dr. Who, apparently the new Dr. Who, though the first season seemed horribly dated. I don't know WHEN the 'old' Dr. Who was, but I assume it was before the 90s in which the first season seemed to have been. I liked this series. Rather reminded me of Star Trek in a way... I'd call it the UK version of Star Trek. That first season was just terribly campy terribly TERRIBLY campy I'd almost say that I DIDN'T like it lol all it needed was an episode with Tribbles! In translation in aura and atmosphere and not just in subject (sci-fi space travel, exploration and other alien species) it's awfully like the original Star Trek. The second season was my FAVORITE lets call that The Next Generation (though it wasn't it was the same cast as the first...), the third was just ho-hum but it had it's fanstical qualitys, call that DS9 :) and so on and so on it IS the UK version of Star Trek! lol

Than I watched Torchwood. You know, funny thing about Torchwood (and apparently I didn't see the final, 5th, series due to a licensing dispute with Netflix...) is Dr. Who, Torchwood is an offshoot of Dr. Who as if directly out of the 2nd series. Anyway in Dr. Who the directly referenced a creator (even if the Dr. was referring to himself as such), I believe it even referenced an afterlife! But Torchwood is just the opposite! It felt like a direct 180 in theistic philosophy. Now I'm not saying Christian not at ALL (more like Bhudism) just Dr. Who was open minded Torchwood had nothing of it. Strange that one. Anyway as a religious nut myself maybe this kind of ruined it for me lol. But even so It didn't deal with space travel more of an X-files sort of thing. Yes very X-files. I didn't even watch X-files though. I felt it was more like Lost in a way... just lost, in the literal sense. When we were talking about stupid decisions for the sake of drama I'd think of Lost... and this as well. Full of stupid decisions and consequences that would normally be negated by The Doctor in it's sister series but instead here they suffer the consequences and we all see how blimey idiotic they really are.

  15. Been watching The Venture Bros season 4. So far it isn't quiet as good as past seasons but I'm only halfway through it.

  16. The first dr who was from 1968 to 89. One of the longest tv series or might be THE longest. The one you're watching started in 2005. I watched part of the first episode with the mannequins and had to turn it off.

  17. The newest Dr Who (Smith) is lame. I have not watched it since Tennent was Who.

  18. I've tried watching the new version here and there, and I always have a problem with the format change to standard self-contained hour long stories. The classic format with serialized 30 minute installments and multiple episodes per storyline just seems more like Doctor Who to me. It was meant to be a sci-fi serial with cliffhangers.

  19. Moffet does have an overarching storyline for each series but it's usually 3 or 4 episodes that will hook into it with a couple of unrelated filler episodes.

The new Doctor is not a great one, too much emphasis on being "wacky" and Moffet doesn't seem to be as good as Davies at writing decent characters and realistic interactions.

  20. Wacky? Smith makes it so the Dr has Schizophrenia or something close. Tennent had it down perfectly of the new three Dr's.
