What TV Shows Are You Watching?

  1. I'm still watching Fringe; it's a bloody great show.

  2. I got sidetracked with some other stuff during the 3rd series and haven't caught up. Quite enjoyed the '2 sides' plot so really should make an attempt to get back into it. Have loads of it in HD taking up space on my V+ box.

  3. Watching the Cleveland show, The new series is on tonight good times :)

  4. The best Supernatural series since Buffy and Angel. It is about two brothers who are Demon hunters looking for their dad and the yellow eyed demon who killed their mother. One of the best TV shows I have seen in a long time. Each season gets better in plot lines. A mix of Supernatural tension, action. discovery and humour. You should give it a watch.

  5. Channel One (previously Virgin One) went offline yesterday. I didn't watch too much on it but it was handy for episodes of STTNG when nothing else was on.

Still find it a bit naughty that Sky purchased the channels VM owned and then immediately shut Bravo and Channel One down. Living also became Sky Living yesterday.

Prefer the new Sky Logo's on their channels I have to say, much neater.

  6. Ah I was wondering why Channel One was no longer broadcasting, no more fresh price of bel air for me then I suppose :(

sky are Bastards, I want sky sports news back!

  7. This last week had the most hilarious episode of Californication I've seen. Let's just say it involved a perverted billionaire, his pet monkey, and autoerotic asphyxiation.

  8. I've been watching more Kitchen Nightmares. This show really is the kiss of death for bad restaurants. They invariably end up closing after he leaves. One of the owners of some crappy Italian place killed himself by jumping off a bridge.

These places are about to go belly up before Gordon ever arrives. Then when he exposes the unsanitary conditions in the kitchens, it's game over. No one would ever eat at one of these places after seeing rancid food and roaches. The expensive, high-end changes he makes to the menus aren't sustainable for failing restaurants that are already deeply in debt. On top of that these places are usually in economically depressed areas where people don't eat out, and they certainly don't eat at expensive places.

I like the UK version better. Either way, it's pretty good at showing you how not to run a restaurant, or any kind of business for that matter.

  9. Looks like Charlie Sheen's outrageous behavior finally caused Two and a Half Men to get canceled.

  10. I enjoy Kitchen Nightmares. Prefer the UK version but the US version is good too. I'm amazed how dumb some of the owners are, especially given quite a few have had successful businesses in other industries before opening a restataunt.

  11. Wow. Hard to believe they killed such a money maker. Too bad for all the other actors and crew.

  12. No loss at all really, 2 and a half men was one of the least funny things on TV.

  13. I fucking hate the intro to that show. Makes me want to smash things.

  14. Yet it also had the highest ratings. Just goes to show you that people have no taste.

  15. I watched Little Iceage on the history channel. It was pretty good. If we get another little ice age Europe is screwed.

  16. Just watched the first two episodes of HBO's The Pacific, which center around Guadalcanal. Snap judgement would be that there's something missing in comparison to Band of Brothers, but that's a pretty high bar.

The investment in the character's doesn't seem as strong so far, and they didn't do that great of a job communicating the actual progression of the campaign...just a couple of chaotic nighttime battles on Guadalcanal and then it was over. It's possible that's intentional, that they want the viewer to be in the same shoes as the Marines and not really have a clear idea of how things are going at any given moment. I'm being picky though. It's a solid first two episodes.

  17. I thought it was a much weaker series than Band of Brothers.

  18. I'm watching the second TV show I've liked since Arrested Development (the other being Dexter), Weeds. It's much better than I expected. A co-worker who understands my tastes and strong tendency to ignore TV programming entirely recommended it. I'm into season 4 now.

  19. @AKS

You should also give Breaking Bad a try. I can't decide whether Breaking Bad or Dexter is the best show on TV right now. They're both amazingly good.

Weeds is good for the first three seasons. After that it loses its way.

  20. I've been watching Justified. I kinda like it....a lot. Timothy Olyphant is usually movies that aren't worth a shit but his TV show about a Kentucky Marshall is very entertaining.
