What TV Shows Are You Watching?

  1. What do you think of Battlestar Galactica?

  2. I like it a lot. It's probably the best Sci-Fi show since Star Trek.

  3. I'm watching "Season 4" of Arrested Development on Netflix. While it's nice to see the cast back together again, these episodes are completely awful. The writing is really off, the characters just aren't the same, and it just flat out isn't funny. It's obvious they couldn't get the cast members together at the same time to film the scenes. A lot of really obvious green screening and camera tricks. It feels like a cheap knockoff of AD rather than a continuation. Don't waste your time.

  4. The writing is the area that seems to be significantly weaker. I'm disappointed with what I've seen so far.

  5. The writing team is the same as the original series. I've seen some reviews saying that the second half of the 15 episodes is the payoff.

  6. Yeah I read that scheduling was a big issue. They should have storyboarded the entire season, shot it as one big production, then re-edited episodically.

  7. I've seen the first 4 episodes and they aren't very good. I hope it gets better.

  8. Is Breaking Bad worth sticking with? I enjoyed the first season but this second season just seems to drag at the moment - just on the fifth episode.

  9. Breaking Bad is quite possibly the greatest drama in the history of television. The writing and acting are impeccable. Of course it's worth sticking with. How could anyone not like Breaking Bad?

  10. I've read quite few people saying season 2's early episodes weren't that great so I'll keep with it for now.

  11. It's the calm before the storm. The second half of season 2 is amazing. A lot happens. Keep watching.

  12. Watched a few more and it seems to have gained a lot more direction. Still not sure if its living up to the hype but everything I've read said it really gets good from now on.

  13. It may just not be your kind of show. I have no idea if you like crime dramas.

  14. Crime dramas suck, there are too many of them around.

  15. I hope you're not assuming cmdr meant crime drama as in csi or law and order as it's nothing like that.

  16. I was referring to things like The Godfather, Goodfellas, Pulp Fiction, The Sopranos, Heat, Leon The Professional, The Departed, and Scarface. Breaking Bad is definitely on that level. The writing and acting are superb. But if you don't like crime dramas, even one of the best crime dramas isn't going to be your cup of tea.

I was absolutely not referring to bad network TV cop and csi shows.

  17. Matt Smith is stepping down and a new doctor will appear at Christmas in the Xmas special. Russell Tovy and Rubert Grint are early favourites at the bookies.

    Jenna Louise-Coleman is staying on.

  18. This season has been pretty poor in my opinion, only the last episode was any good.

  19. At least the last episode showed us how Tennant was going to be able to re-appear.

A few episodes this season were OK, I think they were better before Xmas when Amy and Rory were still around, since then the best one for me was probably the one in the big house with the psychic.

Maybe a new doctor will help, think Smith was too over the top with his whacky-ness for some people.

  20. When Matt reigns it in and the script calls for him to be a little bit sinister, he can be quite impressive. Unfortunately, most of this season's stories have him being overly weird
