My fiance has gotten me watching The Great British Bake Off on Netflix. I don't want to watch it but I am compelled to keep going.
I finished both Season 1 and 2 of Better Call Saul. The show has the exact same feel as Breaking Bad but it's not as compelling to watch. Season 2 really got into Mike's story which is a lot better than Sal's.
You're making it sound worse than it is. Better Call Saul isn't quite as good as Breaking Bad. But to be fair, Breaking Bad is the greatest show in the history of television (GoT may come in a close second depending on how it ends) and better quality than most Oscar caliber movies, so it's a pretty tough act to follow. Better Call Saul is pretty damn good in its own right. It's better than like 99.999% of what's on TV.
Well that's why I waited a long time between Breaking Bad and Better Call Saul. I figured it wouldn't be as good. I liked season 1 but the drama between Saul and his brother in season 2 drags on too much. Mike is the only good thing happening.
Netflix only seasons 1 and 2 right now but it looks like AMC has 10 episode up for season 3. Might have to give it a go.
Been watching a lot of Netflix. Netflix has some hidden gems. But they also have a lot of mediocre shows where it's clear why the big networks passed on them and they ended up on Netflix. Ozark A mix of Breaking Bad, Weeds, and Justified, but not as good as any of those shows. Needs to find its own voice. Way too derivative of other "average person leads double life of crime" type shows. Atypical Show about a kid with autism trying to figure out how to date girls. Doesn't sound appealing, but its actually pretty funny and well written. I was surprised by how good this show ended up being. Grace and Frankie Two old women live together after finding out their husbands are gay. Basically a trashy netflix version of Golden Girls. GLOW Alison Brie wrestles with other girls in the 80s. Not as exciting as it sounds. Actually kind of dull and unfunny. She does have some naked scenes though. Master of None Some funny, well writtten episodes. A lot of boring and unfunny episodes too. A mixed bag. Not a fan of Aziz Ansari. I usually find him annoying. He's okay in this, but my opinion of him hasn't really changed.
I watched the premiere of HBO's, The Deuce. It seems like HBO got worried they didn't have enough shows about drugs, sex, and violence so they made another show about drugs, sex, and violence. It wasn't my cup of tea but I'm sure people will like it.
Vikings It has good acting and top notch production values. But something about it just isn't clicking for me. I'm only a few episodes in. Maybe it gets better.
I'm in S2 of Vikings now. Show is great. The Vikings are thieving, murderous scum. This is a show that succeeds in making you cheer for the bad guys. Also it's crazy how much this show looks like Skyrim. I think it's a testament to how great that game was at capturing the look of medieval Norse Scandinavia.
I think I'd give Vikings a 9/10. It's new my new favorite thing to watch since the writing has gone down the toilet on Game of Thrones. Also lol at the Blood Eagle. That was like a Mortal Kombat finishing move.
The new season(5th) is back November 29th so you have more than enough time to catch up. Sure its been a year since S4 ended. Its been renewed for a season 6 as well.
Vikings really does keep getting better. The siege of Paris was incredible. I loved Ragnar's trick on the French that won the day. So sneaky!
See. Least you got to watch it all in one go I have had to watch it and wait yearly since S1. Hurry up so I can post up the S5 teaser trailer it looks like a film quality.
-Spoilers- I loved Vikings right up until they killed off Ragnar. Ragnar was the heart and soul of the show. It just doesn't work without him. The writing quality also seemed to be in decline in S4. Lots of wacky shit that made no sense in the context of the show, like that Chinese woman getting Ragnar hooked on drugs, Lagertha suddenly turning lesbian, Lagertha irrationally murdering high level people for stuff that's ancient history on the show. Also lots of boring filler subplots that don't go anywhere. I really enjoyed this show, but I think I might be done with it with no Ragnar and with the writing getting worse. I've tried watching a few of the episodes since he died and they just aren't doing it for me. His sons just aren't compelling characters. Final score 8/10.
While I've always enjoyed Kat Winnicks tits and face as a guest star on tv, she truly is one of the worst actresses ever. I'm not sure I could watch a show where she plays a lead.... probably makes Mother of Dragons look like an academy award winner.
