Wii U

  1. Apple doesn't have an online gaming network. They have a store.

Then again, Nintendo don't really have much of a gaming network either.

  2. Apple debuted Game Center with the introduction of iOS4.

The point I'm making is that the success of the PS3/360 online strategies is relative to what you compare it to. If you compare it to Nintendo, some of it seems better. If you compare it to other things outside of consoles, it starts to break down. I doubt alot of the more PC-centric members of PVCF would say that PS3/360 online is better than PC online options, for example.

  3. Game centre? Apart from it popping up when some games start, I don't know what it's for.

  4. What it's for? The same thing that PSN and Xbox Live are for: online gaming.

  5. Well, I guess I don't have a lot of online enabled games and/or I don't know how to use it. the Game Centre app just shows games that my friend (Yes, singular) has.

  6. That friend doesn't happen to be yourself no? That may explain the problems.

  7. Well, the only online game I'm playing at the moment is Words with Friends, which may explain my lack of game centre knowledge...

So, who's on game centre and what are some good multiplayer games?

  8. I think you nailed it. I have little interest in the casual direction the consoles are going in, and stick to PC gaming these days. I guess I'll just stay out of this discussion. I'm clearly not the intended demographic of the Wii U.

  9. So much for it appealing to everyone as nintendo hoped it would. Seems like the proper gamers are the ones that aren't interested. Shame really because we're the ones who buy the consoles and the games.

  10. My personal favorite is Real Racing 2, but Trenches, Carcassonne, and Infinity Blade come to mind.

  11. I can't believe you aren't more excited about this. You can deliver punches with more power. Two full generations ahead of the GameCube!

  12. How about trying the thing out before saying things about it. It's like saying you won't have sex without a condom but then after trying without you find out its better than you thought.

  13. I'm in the same boat. I'll play a few games on my phone, but beyond that, I barely game on anything, even my PC. My PS3 is mostly for watching Blurays.

I kept an assortment of game systems and games over the years, just tonight I started liquidating my collection. I just don't care about them anymore. Of all my old games and systems, I think I'll keep my Gamecube collection because those games are still fun and my GBA SP just for sentimental reasons. The PS3 stays by default as a media center. I've already sold my Dreamcast and my Genesis through Facebook. Tomorrow, I'm jumping on Craigslist with the leftovers.

  14. That's not the right analogy, it's more like saying you won't have sex with a teletubby, but after trying it, it's better than you thought

  15. @Hawk

I sold my 360, Wii, and DS. I basically never played them. The PS3 stays around for Blu-Ray and streaming. The upcoming games I'm looking forward to (Deus Ex, Skyrim, Mass Effect 3) are all on PC. This generation of consoles just didn't do anything for me. I wish I had come to that realization back when Khaid did because I would have saved myself some money.

  16. They have love handles and tubby custard. What is not to like?

Monkey, go retro gaming then in the newer generations do not interest you much?

  17. I still go back and play NES and SNES games in emulation. I would play the real thing, but my brother took both of them when he moved to Texas. Bastard.

I also still play old PC games.

  18. I'll second that. I'll also add my disinterest in any recent games on PC as well, I wouldn't have spent as much money upgrading my rig with parts I don't need. Starcraft 2 was decent enough, but I could have easily just stayed with my old hardware and just dropped all the settings down and gotten a similar experience.

  19. I'll also add that I still don't want to put any money into my PC, so if it doesn't meet the hardware requirements for Battlefield 3 at at least medium settings, I'll probably get it for my PS3. The only future PC exclusives I have any interest in are Diablo III and Old Republic. I'd also buy Halo CE Anniversary if a PC port was done, but that is probably less likely than me winning the lottery.

  20. That's probably wise right now. Most stuff is multiplatform these days, so until some new consoles come out in a few years and bump things up a notch, it's silly to upgrade. As long as you've got at least a Core 2 Duo, 4GB ram, and an 8800 card, you're good. I feel like my GTX 460 is kind of overkill, but it wasn't expensive so I can't complain.

The PC version of Halo already has enhanced DX9 graphics, so maybe just play that.
