Wii U

  1. Well, Sony & Microsoft better have something big planned, because at the end of this year, Nintendo will have the most powerful console on the market. And fighting another Super Nintendo would be really hard if they arrive really late in the game.

  2. Next Xbox is already being touted around; top level publishers and devs are getting shown target systems (and some might even have them already if I believe everything I'm told). I expect EPIC will have something to show at this years E3 for MS if they decide to use the summer show as their launch platform since UE4 would be a good platform to show running on itl a win/win for MS and Epic Games.

Everything quiet on Sony side. Emphasis now is pushing Devs to Vita.

  3. Too late. I'm already a Nintendo fanboy from thinking about it. I just need back on Shadow Fox's friend list and an appropriate avatar.

  4. no more bonk for you??

  5. Ummm... Bonk appeared on the SNES in "Super" Bonk form, so I'm good.

  6. So it sounds likely now that MS will be releasing another console in the 2013 range, but it's not going to be a huge leap beyond the Wii U in terms of performance.

  7. I guess the days of a new console, challenging a gaming PC in terms of raw power, are over.

  8. How much of a jump did we see in previous generations in terms of power? Is 6 times more powerful a low jump?

  9. According to an old promo page on xbox.com, the 360 could process four times the number of polygons, four times the number of pixels per second, and had eight times the memory of the original Xbox. However, that jump happened after four years, whereas this one is happening after eight...so it does seem less of a jump in that respect.

  10. Yeah, I suppose the length of this generation would make that jump seem a bit small in comparison, based on those figures. Still, it sounds like it should be quite a leap anyway - be good to get an idea of what we might see but I guess E3 should show something.

  11. I think the problem will be that portable chip sets for smartphones and tablets appear to be on course to make those kinds of 5x-6x leaps every year. It actually makes the performance of the Fall 2013 Xbox look a bit suspect in terms of timing. Nintendo's earlier 2012 launch makes more sense given the nature of the disruption from smart phones etc.

  12. My HD 4850 is still going strong in my tower. Using this in the Wii U is pleasing, especial know that the system will produce far better graphics with that card than my PC.

  13. Wow, nobody here is interested in the Wii U?

think Im gonna pick a black one up at launch along with Zombi U and Mario, Ill probably also get Fifa and Ass creed 3 on it shortly after as well.

  14. I don't think the current forum members even had interest in the original wii.

  15. I did. I still do for The Last Story.

  16. I did until "someone" stole mine, although I'd agree the Wii was crap it did have some decent games such as Mario Galaxy 1&2, SSBB, Xenogears, Zelda ect. I think Nintendo games in HD will be the best thing since sliced bread.

  17. Wii U is still going to launch this year? After seeing Halo 4, I thought maybe Nintendo would decide to scrap the project and dump the evidence in a landfill.

  18. Somehow IBM managed to make a CPU worse than Xenon seven years later and after two full process node shrinks. It must be very cheap.

  19. This will probably be Nintendo's last console. These days they keep saying they want to compete with the big consoles and have a load of AAA games but they have to make a AAA console first. I'm gettin gsick of people calling gimmicks innovation. It's only innovation if it improves things. Motion control does not improve the gaming experience in general. I saw one of the heads of Gearbox talking about Aliens CM coming out for Wii U an dhe was loving the fact that the Wii U controller acts as the motion sensor, how much of a gimmick can you get? How quickly will this screen drain the batteries?

If the Wii U fails and Nintendo pull out I will be sad to see one of the giants of gamng fall but they will deserve it for not bothering to compete properly. The fact that people are talking positively about Nintendo producing a HD console 6 years after everyone else is kind of funny.
