I caught the Crappening on cable awhile ago, and it was as bad as I expected. M Night Doucheamalan's movies just keep getting worse.
Step Up 2 The Streets It was almost exactly like You Got Served, only dumber. Some preppy white girl tries to act black or Puerto Rican or something and enter the forbidden world of "illegal" (yes they use that term in the movie) street dancing. But when her crew gets served, it's on. TNT seemed to be having a marathon of these movies. It was followed by Stomp the Yard.
I saw the MST3K version of Giant Spider Invasion yesterday. Most amusing. I also picked up The Alienator on DVD for 50p. From the first 5 minutes it's pretty clear it will be something special indeed.
Step Up 2 The Streets is a masterpiece of modern cinema that was simply misunderstood by the critics.
Films about people who dance and think they're in some sort of tough street gang are for fags. There I said it.
Did you think step up 2 was good or did you think the 3-d aspect of it was good? I have to admit I love 3-d and I actually saw the trailer for step up 2 3-d whatever it was and the 3-d was pretty spectacular. I'm easily impressed. However it wasn't spectacular enough to make me want to sit through the story which probably went a little something like this. Scenario A: Posh girl meets rough 'n' tough "gang" who act like family. Girl is rejected at first but they soon realise that she's awesome at dancing, cue showdown with rival gang. Scenario B: Girl finds gang and becomes new star. Girl encounters set back while trying to beat head girl of rival gang, uses it to become stronger. Performs some hitherto impossible technique and gains respect of everyone. Wins. Even if the film is nothing like those two options I've still got less than no interest in seeing that film.
Actually cmdr, is right, she was hot. Can't say much for the story but the filming of the dance scenes were really good. I've never watched the original step up, but i've watched 2 and 3. Step up 2 and 3 had the same directors so their filming styles were similar but part 2 was superior to part 3. I think you have the step up's confused btw the way. Step up 2 was a regular movie. Step up 3 (aka Step Up 3D) was the newest one. I saw it normally, not the 3D version.
Sucker Punch is looking like a contender. 20% on Rottentomatoes, and dropping. If it had nudity or graphic violence, there might have been something redeeming about it, but I think the PG-13 rating killed it.
The Beaver looks like another contender. The trailer was hilariously awful and like something out of a South Park episode, and the studios keep pushing back its release.
