That was DX11. This is DX12. https://youtu.be/Bro5YugsPDg The best that I saw on the PS4 is that Turok clone with robot dinosaurs. And it didn't come close to looking as good as Gears 4.
I always thought that those engines sat on top of DirectX as additional libraries. If that wasn't the case, then why would Frostbite dev ever say this? https://twitter.com/repi/status/585556554667163648
The Xbox is definitely closing the gap - the extra 65% power from getting rid of kinect and the 87% DX12 power boost means parity will soon be reached. Sure, every multi-platform see the PS4 come out on top, with higher definition and more FPS but who notices that? No-one, not if they try. And don't get me started on exclusives. EVERYONE was talking about Gears 4 as a graphical showpiece. NOT Uncharted 4. Gears is the return of the king. Anything else is surely just swamp gas talk.
Lol. Yeah. The only gap that I see is the gap between all of the PS4 titles and the beauty of Ryse Son of Rome. And that was an Xbone launch title. https://youtu.be/p6Vu8sVvaWk
If you want to learn about the possible benefits of DX12 for the XONE, here's a good article. Long story short: DX12 can increase the number of triangles for it, but not the shading. That's due to the limitations of the current hardware configuration. So, looking at a video for Gears on XONE and thinking "those are graphics that only DX12 made possible" is not correct...since adding triangles without being able to shade them is not going to improve the visuals. http://www.cinemablend.com/games/Xbox-One-Unlikely-Hit-1080p-With-DX12-Says-Witcher-3-Dev-66567.html http://www.cinemablend.com/games/DirectX-12-May-Help-Xbox-One-Much-According-Developer-64410.html https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sB0xy74Zrj8
Those articles were pretty old. Here's some newer ones. http://www.littletinyfrogs.com/article/460524/DirectX_11_vs_DirectX_12_oversimplified http://gamingbolt.com/dx12-should-remedy-the-resolution-issue-on-the-xbox-one-esram-to-receive-new-api It makes sense. It is only logical to assume that if DX12 gives you more polygons to work with, then if you leave your polygon count alone, you should be able to increase the resolution without hurting the frame rate. Well, that's how it works on my gaming PC. https://youtu.be/1j5wE03OBEs And, yes, that's in 1080p. http://www.gamepur.com/news/19625-dev-confirms-rise-tomb-raider-e3-2015-demo-was-running-1080p-xbox-one.html
Yeah, but the PS4 could already do 1080p. Those articles don't refute anything from the links I posted. There isn't going to be a huge graphical boost from DX12 for the XONE. They'll have a better chance at getting to 1080p and matching the PS4 resolution.
I would say your skills are mediocre, but you manged to get an impressive 3 pages and 28 replies. Your first post should've been better, it was easily spotted. An assist was needed to clean out the thread and really get it going. Your mentor should've gone into more depth on the chi of subtlety. Solid first attempt with excellent results, 6.5/10.
Rare Replay is the first thing that makes me kind of want an XBONE, still not gonna spend the money on it at the moment.
Yeah, same here. I'll get one when there's enough exclusives that tempt me. Currently, rare replay and master chief collection are the only ones I'd buy.
I got bored with gears by the end of the second one. The first was better but I don't think it would have aged well; also, some of the HD version actually looks worse artistically. I've not seen a lot of that pirate game so can't comment.
Rare's pirate game does look like fun as long as it's not too repetitive. They didn't show much of what you would be doing beyond the one v. one ship battles.
Sorry. I've been out of it for a while. I got an abscessed tooth last week. I'm better now though. Here's something that is undeniable. The power of Xbone's cloud. It's there and it makes the Xbone way more powerful than the PS4. I remember laughing at that announcement too. But no one is laughing at this... http://www.pocket-lint.com/news/134892-crackdown-3-preview-the-xbox-one-game-that-is-beyond-the-ps4-s-capabilities https://youtu.be/EWANLy9TjRc
So what happens when you play the game on a 9Mb connection and have no options to upgrade that connection other than moving house like myself?
First no A/C, now 9Mb internet... do you also walk 2 blocks to use an outhouse at your esteemed apartment? That video looks badass though. Imagine Rockstar doing a GTA with this. Although, we'll see how well it works when their servers/network get saturated.
Also what happens if the server goes down or is overloaded? I'd rather not rely on an external source, make the console capable of doing the work because there are factors such as internet outages that could render your game unplayable.
